The third and fourth phases of the "Anti-epidemic and Warming Action Plan”, organised by the DC Foundation, were held on April 20 and May 18 in Tsuen Wan and Shek Kip Mei. A total of 20,000 masks and other forms of aid were distributed to poor households.

Since the onslaught of the novel coronavirus in Hong Kong, and the severe epidemic it has caused, grassroots citizens have been suffering from the pressure of life behind a mask and the reduction in income it has entailed, due to the economic downturn. The DC Foundation has organised an Anti-Epidemic Warming Action plan, divided into six phases. The first and second phase were held on April 3 and April 17 in Kowloon City, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing Districts. A total of 20,000 masks, plus other forms of aid, were donated to low-income families and disadvantaged communities, to relieve their most urgent needs and provide care to the grassroots.

The DC Foundation sponsors the Pink Ball 2019 “Generations" event, hosted by the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry. Donations collected this year will be used for appropriate early treatment in order to significantly improve survival rates. Hereditary cancer accounts for 10-15 per cent of all breast cancer cases. We believe that early detection and ongoing services for patients with hereditary cancer, such as genetic testing and free ovarian cancer medications, will contribute vastly to improved survival rates, and will launch a free full-service, high-risk breast surveillance programme, including 3D mammograms for low- and middle- income people this year, as well as breast ultrasound and MRI breast scans.

The annual Pink Ball 'Bloom' organized by the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry was held successfully to celebrate the 10th Anniversary. DC foundation supported The Pink Ball to help the underserved high risk families to access free genetic testing, counselling services, and preventative measures, and to support clinical research to improve the testing and data collection for hereditary cancers in the Chinese community.
